Transitional Provisions under section 132 of the Trade Marks Act No. 8 of 2015, and Notice under section 133 of Trade Marks Act No. 8 of 2015 to the Controller to have the registrability of trade marks filed before June 25th 2020 determined in accordance with the provisions of the Trade Marks Act No. 8 of 2015

 

The transitional provisions of the Trade Marks Act No. 8 of 2015, under section 132(1), indicates that trade mark applications filed before June 25th 2020 will be dealt with under the former Trade Marks Act Chap 82:81.

Should you desire to have your pending applications determined in accordance with the provisions of Trade Marks Act No. 8 of 2015 (which is highly suggested), please give notice to the Controller pursuant to section 133(1) of the Trade Marks Act No. 8 of 2015 on or before December 28, 2020. This can be done via letter and submitted through the Electronic Online System for all your pending trade mark applications generally or specific trade mark applications.
