Introductory Webinar on Intangible Assets/Intellectual Property Valuation

The St. Augustine Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (STACIE) of The University of the West Indies (UWI) in conjunction with the Trinidad and Tobago Intellectual Property Office (TTIPO) is pleased to invite you to attend an Introductory Webinar on Intellectual Property (IP) Valuation on Thursday February 29th, 2024 @ 9.00 a.m. AST. This is the first in a series of workshops on IP Valuation which is being convened by The UWI and the TTIPO under the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) funded project titled “Digital Innovations for Sustainable Environmental and Economic Recovery in Trinidad and Tobago”.

The webinar will introduce you to the main considerations that a valuer must understand in order to provide a valuation of intellectual property assets. The facilitator for the webinar will be Dr. Fernando Da Cruz Vasconcellos, PhD, MRICS, Valuation Director, at Valuation Consulting based in London and Cambridge, UK. Fernando is a Chartered Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in the UK (MRICS), a Registered Business Valuer and a Chartered Engineer. Fernando leads the Investment Strategy & Valuation work with clients on the valuation of companies, shares (stock), portfolio companies, share options and growth shares, and intangible assets (IA)/IP assets, particularly for businesses, investors and funds seeking to raise, secure and monitor the performance of investments, for management incentive schemes, for IA/IP ownership transfer, licensing and tax purposes, and for lending/investment purposes.

After the Introductory Webinar, a cohort of twelve (12) individuals from the financial sector will be selected to participate in an advanced training workshop from March 4th – 8th, 11th – 13th and 18th – 20th, 2024 where participants will be required to conduct valuations on various IP assets.
