Dr. Emir Crowne

Dr. Crowne is a Tenant at New City Chambers in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and the Founder of Crowne Sports Law, an international sports litigation practice based in Ontario, Canada.

He serves as a Barrister, Attorney-at-Law, General Counsel, Chief Privacy Officer and Corporate Secretary for various clients and in various capacities. He has appeared before sports tribunals based in Switzerland, Canada, Jamaica, Trinidad, Malta and at the Rio 2016 Olympics in over 50 matters to date including multiple appearances before the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

In 2019, 2020 and 2021 Who’s Who Legal recognized him:

  • as one of Canada’s leading sports lawyers; and separately
  • as one of the world’s leading sports lawyers.

Dr. Crowne is also appointed to the World Intellectual Property Organization’s List of Neutrals, and Sport Resolutions’ (UK) International Panel of Arbitrators and Mediators. He also sits on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Intellectual Property Law & Practice (Oxford). With over 100 publications to his name, he is widely recognized as one of the world’s leading authorities on problem gambling, and comparative patentable subject matter. Dr. Crowne is also the founder of both the Donald G. H. Bowman National Tax Moot and Harold G. Fox Moot.
